What Are Cargo Carriers?

Cargo carriers add additional capacity to vehicles to transport belongings. Carriers are designed to be mounted on top of vehicles or hitches.

Some carriers are designed to be left on the vehicle. Others must be removed before accessing the trunk. Garage parking can be a concern. Understand you vehicles limitations.

Four Primary Types of Cargo Carriers Used Today

Hitch Cargo Carriers – These carriers extend the length of your vehicle. They mount directly into a vehicle hitch. There are many varieties of carriers with ranging capacities available. Some designs allow the carrier to be folded when not in use.

Bicycle Carriers – Transporting many bikes is not possible for most vehicles. Adding a bike rack makes it possible. These carriers offer the ability to load 4+ bicycles.

Transport your bikes to your favorite destination. Bike racks are offered in many designs that can mount via a hitch, straps or rear mounted spare tire.

Trailers – Offer the ability to self-transport larger loads. Loads such as motorcycles, household belonging, and more. Trailers can be custom designed to be enclosed or open air.

Attaching a trailer to a vehicle affects acceleration, turning and stopping. Vehicle limitations should be thoroughly researched before using a trailer to prevent harm.

Roof Rack Carriers – Are used frequently for lengthy items. Items such as canoes, kayaks, skis, snowboards and more. Roof bags and boxes may offer weather proofing solutions for transporting smaller items.

How to Ship a Cargo Carrier

Cargo carriers often exceed parcel limitations due to dimensions and weight. Transporting one or more units can easily be accomplished by using freight cargo services.

Shipping a cargo container can be a complex process, so it is crucial to partner with a reputable freight company. Here are a few general steps to shipping a cargo container.

Prepare all necessary shipping documents, such as the bill of lading, commercial invoice, packing list, and any other required certificates or permits. These documents are essential for customs clearance and smooth transit.

Properly secure and package the cargo carrier to prevent any damage during transit. If it contains goods inside, make sure they are packed securely to avoid shifting or breakage.

Furnish the freight forwarder or carrier with all the required information, including the carrier’s dimensions, weight, origin, destination, and any special handling requirements.

Consider purchasing cargo insurance to protect the value of the carrier and its contents in case of loss or damage during shipping.

If the cargo carrier is crossing international borders, work with the freight forwarder to ensure all customs and import/export regulations are met. This may include filing necessary paperwork and paying duties and taxes.

Keep track of the cargo carrier during transit using any available tracking systems provided by the carrier or freight forwarder.

We specialize in assisting sellers of cargo carriers, whether they are traditional cargo carrier sellers or sell on services such as Craiglist and Ebay.
