Palm Harbor, Fla., August 02, 2016: FreightCenter, Inc. today announced that it has joined the SmartWay® Transport Partnership, an innovative collaboration between the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the transportation industry to greatly reduce greenhouse gases and air pollution.

As a SmartWay logistics partner, FreightCenter will contribute to the Partnership’s goal to lessen the nation’s dependency on fossil fuels, as well as decrease carbon dioxide and nitrogen emissions. Since 2004, SmartWay partners have saved over 7 billion gallons of fuel and reduced carbon emissions by 72.8 million metric tons.

“In order to fulfill our mission of ‘Delivering Innovation to Drive Success for All Customers, Partners, and Shipments,’ we have to do our part to build a sustainable future and protect the environment. Knowing that the majority of our carriers are SmartWay compliant, reassures us that we are doing our part to improve air quality and reduce harmful emissions for all,” says FreightCenter CEO, Matthew J. Brosious.

The company’s SmartWay involvement covers 65% of all freight transportation brokered by the third-party logistics provider. When customers use FreightCenter to book with one of its 42 SmartWay-certified carriers, they also contribute to improving the air quality in their local area.
