Garland does not have a nearby port. It relies instead on the Port of Houston for its international trade.

Garland Railroads

CPKC is the major Class 1 railroad that operates in the Garland region. The track runs parallel to TX SH 78, going from Dallas all the way through Garland towards the town of Wylie.

The Dallas, Garland, & Northeastern Railroad, operated by Genesee & Wyoming Inc. and owned by Union Pacific (UP), runs a short line through Garland. Parts of the DGNO line run parallel to I-30 outside of Garland. A transloading station is just outside Garland on the way to Dallas, which interchanges with UP.
