Chandler’s Major Ports, Terminals, and Warehouses

The city of Chandler does not have an inland port nearby. Instead, it relies on the Port of Tuscon, a full-service inland port. The port contains a rail yard, an intermodal facility (courtesy of Union Pacific), and 1.7 million sq. ft. of manufacturing, warehousing, and distribution facilities. The port is also a Foreign Trade Zone and a State of Arizona Enterprise Zone, meaning businesses partnered with the port are provided certain tax benefits.

 

Chandler Railroads

Union Pacific is the primary freight railway company in the Chandler metro area. The railroad runs two single-trace branch lines, both coming from Tuscon. One line goes west out to California as part of the Sunset Route, while the other goes up to Phoenix, which has an intermodal terminal for automobiles and other commodities. Tuscon is the principal terminal for UP in Arizona, serving the Port of Tuscon via a rail yard and maintenance facilities.

Chandler has two airports in the city: Chandler Municipal Airport, a general aviation that acts as a reliever airport for larger nearby airports, and Stellar Airpark, a privately owned public-use airpark. Neither airport supports passenger or commercial cargo flights, with Chandler Municipal even declaring it has no plans to introduce scheduled airline services in the near future.

Chandler instead relies on two major airports in the Phoeniz-Mesa-Chandler metro area, within a 30-minute drive from Chandler.
