Types of Freight Claims with Transervice Logistics

When shipping with Transervice Logistics, sometimes things don’t go as planned, and you may need to file a claim. Here’s a quick guide to the types of claims:

Damage Claims: For items that arrive broken or damaged. Check your shipment upon arrival and take pictures of any damage to support your claim.

Loss Claims: If your shipment never arrives or is delivered to the wrong location, file a loss claim to seek compensation for the missing items.

Shortage Claims: For shipments that are partially missing. If you receive fewer items than expected, file a shortage claim for the missing part.

Delay Claims: If your shipment arrives much later than promised and this causes a problem, you might file a delay claim. This depends on the specifics of your shipping agreement, as not all services guarantee delivery times.

To ensure a smooth claim process, act quickly, keep detailed records, and report any issues immediately. This includes taking photos before and after shipping and keeping all related documents. Filing a claim can help you get compensated and resolve issues with your shipment.

What to do when freight damage is found

Remain Calm and Document Everything

  • Thoroughly inspect the integrity of the external packaging

  • If external packaging, shrink wrap etc. is not intact, record any damages on the Bill of Lading (BOL) or Proof of Delivery Receipt (POD).

  • Take photographs of any external packaging damage and product damage.

  • Contact Transervice Logistcs immediately to report damages (not your third-party logistics service provider).

  • Don’t throw anything away. If Transervice Logistics inspects the product, they will use this to determine if the damage to the product is consistent with damage to containers.

  • Note: For concealed damage, most carrier have a 5-day deadline from the delivery date to file any damage claims. If you find damages after the delivery of your product, follow the same protocol above within those 5 days.
