Do you feel as if you are an asset to your team? How so?
I do, I’ve been around FreightCenter for quite a while. I’ve been here long enough that any situation that arises, I’ve probably already dealt with or dealt with something similar to it and have an idea on how to proceed. I also have extensive experience in the hazmat field, so I usually automatically know the answer or know how to get the answer.
What attracted you to the position?
I went to a job fair and was looking for a job in my field, Environmental Health and Safety and happened upon the FreightCenter table. They asked for a resume and I gave it to them. Not long after, I got called in for an interview. Initially, it was a stab in the dark but it all worked out in the end.
What’s your work-life balance like at FreightCenter?
Now that I’m older, it’s clear that when I leave the door, I’m able to leave FreightCenter at the door as well. I don’t have to worry about it. It’s an easy balance because I don’t take that work home with me and I think everyone should have that mentality too.
What’s something unique about you that most people wouldn’t know?
I’m from upstate New York and when I say New York, most people think New York City. That could not be more wrong. I lived in a town where there were more cows than there are people. I went to school 6 hours north of NYC, just shy of the Canadian border and I went to Kindergarten through 12th grade in the same building.
