On this particular Tuesday, the Clearwater Threshers, a partner of FreightCenter, were up against the Lakeland Flying Tigers. The Flying Tigers are a fellow minor league team located out of Lakeland, Florida. By the end of all nine innings, the Threshers had beat the Flying Tigers with a score of 4-2.
What started as the Clearwater Phillies back in 1985 (not to be confused with the Philadelphia Phillies, a major-league baseball team that FreightCenter is also partnered with), became the Clearwater Threshers in 2003 when the team moved to the new Spectrum Field from the Jack Russell Memorial Stadium. Along with the name change and stadium relocation, the Threshers also adopted a new logo and team colors to complete their transformation.
The Clearwater Threshers are the High-A affiliate of the Philadelphia Phillies and have been since 1985, the team’s first season. Though the Phillies’ home stadium is Citizens Bank Park in Pennsylvania, they do share the Spectrum Stadium with the Threshers while they conduct their spring training.
Back in February 2017, FreightCenter formed a partnership with both the Clearwater Threshers and the Philadelphia Phillies. FreightCenter offers discounted freight shipping to the fans of both teams, as well as being the official freight shipper for the baseball teams during their 2017 season. Between the Threshers and the Phillies, they will play over 300 games during the 2017 baseball season.
